1973 Stage 73
Fully serviced and exceptionally clean (inside and out) 1973 Stage 73, complete with legs and pedal. This Fender oozes with the highly coveted early 70s tone. I modified the action for faster response and it feels and plays great. Early models in this condition are getting rarer every day. There is no match for the warm mid-heavy chime of this particular Fender--it's tops in its class.

1971
(First Week) Suitcase 73 Top
This piano
represents the last generation of the warm-toned Raymac tines. All
73 tines are Raymac. I replaced the long bass dampers with NOS shorter
type (1973 style) dampers and modded the midrange dampers for better
performance. Grommets replaced and harp set up for rich tone. Key
dip is set at 3/8 inch. I re-felted the marcel key pedestal. The
hammer tips are original and are the first use of neoprene: Red,
black, tan, yellow and grey. Effects loop has been added. A good
example of this tone is "Sheep" by Pink Floyd. There is
no warmer sounding Fender Rhodes than the one offered here. Raymac
tines plus marcel action equals the classic Fender Rhodes of all
time! Buyer arranges shipping.

1976
Stage 73
Fully overhauled!
Custom tip voice, dimensional standards set up, key pedestal modification,
damper mod, all good tines and tone bars, and new grommets. The
mid-'75 through all of '76 tone is special: Not as much mids as
what came before yet not as much highs as what came later. This
"middle era" tone doesn't have the clicky attack of, say,
a Mk2, yet it retains plenty of warmth not unlike that of an earlier
model. The "problem" is the felt on cam action.
I reversed this and got great Mk2-like action. Some people like
the felt on cam action but I feel I can get better results with
a key pedestal mod performed to fit the specific piano. This "per
piano" factor escapes most techs. The Rhodes offered here is
a great-sounding player's piano. The tolex is good for the age of
the piano. New tolex on main body of piano only. New logos on harp
cover and piano. Small scratches on harp cover. All legs, pedal
and crossbars included.

SOLD!

1980/81
Stage 73 Mark II
This late '80/early
'81 Mark II is among the very best of its kind. Highly playable
action and wonderfully long chime-like sustain to the last
top note. It has all good tines and tonebars, with modified midrange
dampers and new hammer tips in the treble range. All legs and sustain
pedal/rod included. The condition of the Tolex is very good. Not
all Mark IIs were created equal: This Stage 73 is one of the best
pianos I have come across... And it's fully set up by
myself and ready to gig or record. I love this piano so I am
not giving it away. If you want a top player, here she is!

1973
Stage 73
Here is an excellent
player. This piano has been abandoned and overdue in my
shop and it's time to sell. It received a complete overhaul including
key pedestal mod, all new grommets, new tips, dimensional standards
adjusted, modified midrange dampers, harp setup, tune and lube.
ALL good early '70s tines and tonebars. The upper range sings with
warm jazz guitar-like tone including excellent sustain
to the last top note. The bass register is thick and phat with
good separation for walking lines. Keyboard response can yield aggressive bark
yet retains that classic smoothness for those softer
moments. Tolex is a bit rough and one leg is missing a thread insert.
Sustain pedal included. This is a great opportunity for someone
wanting the early '70s tone without paying full price. Pick up only,
no shipping.
SORRY,
SOLD!

1972
Mark 1a Stage 73
The early 70s
Fender Rhodes are special and of this vintage none are
better than the pianos from March to April 1972 for warmth,
sustain, richness of tone and dynamic bark. This piano's date
stamp reads 13 72 15 72. It received a complete internal overhaul with
faster action, all-new grommets, new tips, dimensional standards
adjusted, damper work, harp set up to perfection, etc. The tolex
is very good for its age, with minor scuffs. The harp
cover is very good, and all legs and pedal are included with bags.
Nothing can compare to an early 70s Fender Rhodes for warmth. I
know how these should sound, and I was trained to get the most
out of them.
